"The banjo is not an easy instrument to amplify. I've used other pickups that color the sound and don't give you a true representation of what the banjo really sounds like, but this banjo pickup really captures the true sound of the banjo. I can't get over how much better I sound now with your banjo pickup. Thanks for everything."

Dusty Elmer, a Clinton, NY native, has been taking the social media banjo scene by storm. Born into a musical family and inspired by his drummer father and upright bassist grandfather, he followed suit by playing drums and guitar at the age of 11. At 21, Dusty discovered old-time music and began his journey, specializing in the clawhammer method.

Now at 33, Dusty is proficient in 10 instruments, ranging from the dobro to the mandolin. Social media has allowed him to create a significant following in the banjo community where he posts videos regularly. He can also be found on YouTube, ReverbNation, and Patreon. His musical inspiration comes from old-time fiddle tunes, string bands, bluegrass, jug bands and early 20th century Hawaiian music.

Dusty serves as a Deering Banjos Ambassador and can be found playing regular shows with The Old Main. Other performances have included playing guitar and banjo for Cassidy Lynn & The Tuneshine Boys and Sassafrass Jenkins.

Dusty dedicates several hours each day to practice and it is clear that he plays for the love of the music. He has become a source of inspiration for others in the craft and often takes requests to share with his online following. He is thrilled to join the Myers Pickups family, and excited to use the pickups for clearer tones as well as increasing the ease of operation.
